IHRIM's Ambassador Award (formerly the Excellence Award) is awarded to IHRIM members who have made contributions to the practice of human resource information management while promoting and supporting IHRIM.  This award is the third that Hinojos has received from the organization.  Prior honors were the Summit Award in 2001 and the Chairman's Award in 2010.

"I am flattered that the Association has recognized me with this honor, which came as a total surprise to me," stated Hinojos.  "I initially got involved with IHRIM as an opportunity to network with others struggling with systems issues at the very beginning of the industry, and as I got more involved with the organization, I realized that my management and technical skills could be an opportunity for me to give back to my profession and IHRIM for the training, networking and career advancement opportunities as it has provided to me."

John's roles with IHRIM over the last 17 years have included serving on the Associate Board of Directors for 10 years, Editor of IHRIM.link, contributor to 21 Tomorrows' New Formula, as well as presenter and moderator at various IHRIM events including the 2011 conference.  Currently, John is serving as President of IHRIM's Southern California Chapter.

Hinojos will be presented with the Ambassador Award during the opening general session at the 2011 IHRIM HRM Strategies Conference & Expo, May 15-18 in Washington D.C.  While at the conference, he will also be co-presenting Going Global - Survival Guide and Tips pre-conference session and moderating Boomers to Millennials - Technology Expectations, Interactions and Use and Open Forum: Recruiting and Onboarding.
